Frank Steiner, Jr. is a German composer, but he's shown a penchant for Asian tonalities in recent years. His I Ching Symphony was a surprisingly austere and affecting work, and he dips from that well once again with Touching Silk. Steiner is a gifted sound designer and player, who tends to drown his uncomplicated melodies and often striking instrumentation in honey-laden arrangements and Ray Conniff-esque voices. Playing most of the instruments himself, and most of them being keyboards or samples, Steiner mixes electronics, acoustic orchestral sounds, and traditional Chinese instruments. An electronic wind instrument effectively mimics a Chinese flute on "Indira Chant," and Chinese zithers ripple throughout his arrangements.

This is the best music CD I've ever had. My friends love it too...
This is my favourite CD, I always enjoy and relax with it. This time I bought it for my yoga teacher. She loves it too
There is an ethereal feeling in the music in all his compositions that makes you feel like you are floating on waves of light after you get used to the world Frank has created through his songs. This process doesn't take too long and before you even get halfway through the first track called ‘Love's Whisper’ with its rich emotional sounds, you will find yourself liberated from the daily grind and for the next hour you will find yourself in the tranquil soundscapes that Frank creates with his piano.
It is obvious that the music on this album has been composed and recorded in such a way that it does not disturb the mood and flow of the CD. Each song seems to fold into the next, maintaining the same serene qualities as the song that came before it. I really enjoyed this fact because I wasn't pulled out of the soothing cocoon of silence that wrapped around me with the first song and continued until the last track called ‘Mystery's Invitation’. Often these albums are used in their entirety as background music for Reiki or massage sessions, for sleeping or for meditative purposes.

Relaxing Productivity, October 27, 2009
I listen to a lot of new age music, but this is one of my favourites because all the elements of water and metal are present in this thoughtful CD. Tinkling wind chimes grab your attention without lulling you to sleep, but they don't get overbearing or obnoxious either. A beautiful rendition of an Eastern sound with a Western twist. One of my favourites when I have a lot to do and need to be thoughtful and focused. I hope you enjoy it too.

This is background music with a purpose. The musicality and timbre of each selection on this CD is unique and captivating. If you are working, concentrating, meditating or doing something with focused attention, this music provides an uplifting yet subtle atmosphere of support. The alpha wave composition reaches all emotional and auditory areas with unobtrusive white music. The melodies can be enjoyed either as compositions or as an unobtrusive musical flow in the background, as they can be enjoyed both as a familiar melody or as a distant symphonic composition.
The music on this album seems to inspire and support any task I tackle with music in the background. It supports reading, studying, cooking, meditating, whatever, by appealing to the emotions that music can enhance, much like a soundtrack in a film.
